Fabric District CIC Board member opportunity

The Fabric District has a Board member opportunity available in the role of Physical and Green Regeneration Lead.

The Fabric District CIC was set up in 2017 by a group of local stakeholders who were passionate about regenerating the London Road and Islington areas of Liverpool. This area has a proud history and is a key gateway into the city centre, as well as Lime Street Station, The Royal Liverpool University Hospital, The University of Liverpool and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

The area has a mixture of long-established textile and creative businesses plus emerging start-ups and bars and restaurants. The Fabric District is also home to many buildings that represent Liverpool’s heritage, including Audley House (the TJ Hughes store) and the Clock Tower on London Road.

The area is full of promise and opportunity but there’s lots of work to be done, including protection of the heritage assets, public realm improvements and a greater focus upon environmental sustainability. Additionally, improvements are required to make the area more business friendly and welcoming for employees and visitors. The residential offer is also imbalanced and lacking diversity and quality.

The Board of the Fabric District CIC works hard to improve the area. We are recognised by Liverpool City Council and consulted on major issues, including all planning applications. We work to create an environment that preserves what’s great about the Fabric District and encourages business growth, culture, a strong and diverse residential offer and a welcoming and pleasant environment. Our annual Arts Festival is a growing and important element of Liverpool’s wider cultural offer.

The role of a board member is exciting, varied and never dull! It is also hard work. We have no staff and rely upon our board and stakeholders to give up their time and work together for the good of the area and our city. But it’s incredibly rewarding and if you’re passionate about regeneration and have the time to spare, we’d love to hear from you.

If you have any questions about the role, please email info@fabricdistrict.co.uk

If you wish to apply, please send your CV and a cover letter to info@fabricdistrict.co.uk

The closing date for applications is 5 November 2021.

Best of luck!
