The first phase of our New Ferry regeneration project is now complete, with residents moved in and settling into the 34 new affordable homes in the town centre. The completion of these homes is a big milestone following a gas explosion that devastated the community in 2017.
Working in partnership with Wirral Council, the Regenda Group regeneration project delivers thoughtfully designed, affordable homes available in a range of tenures to suit local needs and help people onto the property ladder.
The new homes are split across two sites in the heart of New Ferry’s high street. This summer, the first residents moved into 14 Affordable Rent homes let by Regenda Homes, and earlier this week we welcomed residents to 20 new Rent to Buy apartments managed by Redwing.
Our residents’ seal of approval – Homes that feel part of the community. Residents have praised the development for its character and quality, describing them as “not just grey apartments” but homes that feel part of the community.
Here’s what new Redwing residents Becky, Jon and his daughter, Luna, had to say about their new home: “We are over the moon to have found a home in a beautiful area where Luna can play and explore safely.
“We’re so excited to continue making our lovely new apartment into our home. Luna is thrilled to have her own space and is super excited to meet new people. This new chapter for us is very exciting and we’re all looking forward to a long future in our new home.” All properties were let before the scheme was completed, showing strong demand for affordable housing in the area.
Katie Davies, Director of Development at The Regenda Group, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to see all homes built and occupied at New Ferry. This is a brilliant milestone in our project to rebuild and transform the area, bringing a range of high-quality, affordable homes, creating opportunities for local people, and most of all, creating a thriving, sustainable community that people can be proud of for generations to come.”
A celebration event for New Ferry – Connecting to our communities
To mark this milestone, we held a celebration event to welcome new residents to the community. The event was attended by our own representatives from across The Regenda Group, Wirral Council and the members of the New Ferry community. The attendees enjoyed a festive evening of music and community spirit with children from Grove Street Primary School singing Christmas carols. The school has been closely involved with the regeneration project, having shared their ideas to help us name the apartment types and develop a brand that reflects local heritage and identity. We’ve helped to deliver £778,766 in social value during the project so far, creating apprenticeships, local jobs, and school partnerships.

A Group Effort – How The Regenda Group is regenerating places and creating opportunities
The new homes were built by M&Y Maintenance and Construction, also part of The Regenda Group, in partnership with local contractors as part of its commitment to social value and investing in communities. A highlight of the project was when the team, alongside AHS Plastering Systems, helped provide ballet barres for the local Ballet school and even struck a few poses themselves! We captured some light-hearted moments of the crew trying out ballet moves for comic effect, bringing smiles all around.

Cllr Tony Jones, Chair of the Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee for Wirral Council, said:
“Phase two of the regeneration is expected to start in early 2026, continuing the transformation of New Ferry with more homes and local improvements including a new car park and highway upgrades.”
These first 34 homes go beyond buildings – they represent hope, resilience, and what’s possible when The Group comes together. From creating beautiful, affordable homes to supporting local jobs, schools, and community projects, this regeneration shows our purpose in action: regenerating places and creating opportunities. As we look ahead to the next phase, our commitment to building thriving communities and brighter futures has never mattered more.
